The facts surrounding how one of their own lost his firearm while fast asleep at a rental home in Kendu Bay are being investigated by officers from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Homa Bay.
The officer informed his coworkers that he may have had a burglar enter his home on Saturday night and steal his weapon, which he kept tucked beneath his pillow.
The other officers were then forced to apprehend him as a result of the firearm escaping from his custody.
He is being held at the Homa Bay police station and will likely face a negligence charge.
The DCI officer, Corporal Micah Chesang, is assigned to the Kendu Bay Police Station in the Rachuonyo North Sub-county, per a police report.
According to the investigation, he was given the gun, a ceska handgun with the serial number C172632, on Saturday night at his place of employment.
He subsequently started his shift that evening.
His duties included scouring the town of Kendu Bay for surveillance purposes.
Up till he returned to his home at Konyango Sub-location in North East Karachuonyo Location around 10pm, Corporal Chesang carried out his duties satisfactorily.

According to the cop, he went to bed and tucked the gun beneath his pillow, which his superiors claim is a standard procedure for securely storing firearms.
A firearm needs to be stored at the armory, according to Samson Kinne, commander of the Homa Bay County Police.
However, if an officer possesses a gun, it should be kept within arm’s reach at all times.
The police commander remarked, “The gun should be kept at a place where it can be reached readily, whether it is a police officer or a licensed handgun holder.”
He stated that in the event of a confrontation, the person holding the gun should extend their hands and grab a weapon, indicating that the officer was maintaining his weapon in the proper location.
At four in the morning while still asleep, corporal Chesang got up for a short call outside.
But he found the missing weapon when he went back to the house a short while later.
The officer proceeded to the Kendu Bay Police Station to file a report after seeing that his gun was gone.
His coworkers came to the scene to look into how the pistol got away.
The officer’s bed was next to the bedroom window, which was currently open, according to the investigators.
The officer, according to Mr. Kavoo, is assisting them in their inquiries.
“He will assist us in gathering further information on the subject. The DCI officer stated, “We are detaining him so that we can obtain concrete information to retrieve the firearm.
