Phelix Odiwuor, also known as Jalang’o, a Lang’ata Member of Parliament, made it clear that President William Ruto had invited him to a meeting at State House on February 7th.
On February 8, the new MP disclosed that he would be meeting with Ruto to discuss a housing project in his district during an interview with Spice FM.
He continued by saying that the project’s start date was set for Wednesday, February 8, and that it was necessary to talk about the project’s logistics.
When Jalang’o arrived at the President’s official residence, he discovered other Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leaders there and was invited to join them, according to Jalang’o.
“Recall that Lang’ata was the site of the President’s first initiative, which is why I was there. Initiating the meeting was Ruto.
I was instructed to sit with them because I’m a local, so I did. It was only proper that I sit with them there as a leader, he said.
After consulting with former Prime Minister Raila Odinga about his meeting with Ruto, the former Kiss FM host continued by saying that he saw nothing wrong with traveling to visit Ruto at State House.
On the other hand, he insisted that Ruto avoided politics and said that he wasn’t asked about going to Azimio’s anti-Ruto demonstrations.
“I called my party leader when the housing project was originally announced, and he advised me to go if it involved development issues. Our party’s leader has given us the go-ahead to focus on development-related issues, “He declared.
Jalang’o declared that he was an ardent follower of Raila and an ODM member. A rally for Azimio is scheduled for Friday, February 10, in Mavoko, Machakos County, and he indicated that he would be there.
Even if they cooperate on development issues, the lawmaker vowed to hold Ruto’s administration accountable.
He said Azimio would continue to advocate for lower food prices as well as other concerns impacting Kenyans.
We will debate those issues at the Azimio Parliamentary Group (PG) meeting on Thursday, February 9, and Friday, February 10, he said.
