The medical professional further explained to TV47 that the neonates’ internal organs had not fully matured because of their weight.
The hospital said that the infants weighed between 500 and 650 grams.
The five were also born early since their mother, Margaret Wairimu, gave birth to them when she was seven months pregnant.
As a result, the four girls and one boy had to be put on life support after birth by the facility’s medical staff.
The infants were confirmed deceased on Thursday, February 5, just 24 hours after their birth.
The mother was admitted right away and kept under monitoring by doctors until she gave birth and required an urgent cesarean section.
The doctor said at the time, “The kids were born with relatively low weights because the pregnancy was at seven months.”
The birth of the five children made headlines on Wednesday as their matatu driver father, Simon Ndung’u, begged Kenyans for assistance.
“I’m asking for help from well-wishers. The father appealed, “Her most recent scan revealed that she was carrying three infants, but another two have arrived at birth.
As a result, well-wishers like Bahati Member of Parliament Irene Njoki gave the couple furniture and food for the children.
“My office has congratulated the family on their new journey and visited them with supply of basic and essential items.
“Bahati Constituency is privileged to receive the small bundles of joy. Simon Ndung’u and his family are inhabitants of Mailisita Kiamaina ward, and he is the sole earner of the young family,” she said.
