In response to President William Ruto’s visit to his Atlanta studios, American film producer and playwright Tyler Perry expressed his sadness that his busy schedule prevented him from meeting the Kenyan leader.
A remorseful Perry expressed on his Instagram page how disappointed he was not to have been able to meet with Ruto. He did, however, promise to make up for the missed chance by visiting Kenya shortly.
“Unfortunately my schedule was booked and I’m heartbroken that I couldn’t move things around in time to be there to greet President Ruto of Kenya as he and his family and delegation toured Tyler Perry studios,” stated the president.
“The good news is that means I will have to make my way to Kenya very soon! I am honored, humbled, and thankful that you stopped by President Ruto.”
Recalling President Ruto’s first visit to his opulent studios, Perry also acknowledged the late comedian and TV personality Steve Harvey for ultimately averting disaster.
“I appreciate ®iamsteveharveytv taking over. What a gift,” he wrote in the post.
On the second day of his US visit, President Ruto and his entourage took a tour of the Tyler Perry studios, where they were greeted with warmth by stand-up comedian and TV personality Steve Harvey.
A gaudy sign that said, “Karibu, President Ruto,” flashed on a big screen at the studio’s entrance as he arrived.
First Lady Rachel Ruto, US ambassador to Kenya Meg Whitman, and well-known Kenyan comedian and screenwriter Eddie Butita were among the people who joined Ruto.
Upon its opening in 2019, the Tyler Perry Studio drew the attention of prominent figures from Hollywood and beyond.
At a party that attracted well-known celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Samuel L. Jackson, Halle Berry, Spike Lee, Cicely Tyson, and others, the writer and director formally launched his enormous studio.
Once a Confederate army station, the 330-acre studio is among the largest in the United States.
Perry continued, “I think it’s crucial in everything we’ve done and everything we’re doing now that we keep trying to inspire and motivate people.”
