The show, which will follow five powerful women as they manage their opulent lifestyles, romantic relationships, and professional careers in Nairobi, was first announced in September 2022.
The socialite Vera Sidika, who has experience with reality TV, is at the top of the list. She has an international cult following and is married to singer Brown Mauzo.
Susan Kaittany, an entrepreneur, is the other housewife. The mother of two gave up her job as a lawyer to pursue modeling and travel before starting a lifestyle and cosmetics business.
In addition, Kaittany is recalled as a close friend and previous business associate of Betty Kyallo. In 2018, there was online discussion over their fallout.
Sonal Maherali, a fashion enthusiast, businesswoman, and influencer, is also included on the list. In 2010, she found success through luxury vlogging. The mother of four has now established the upscale apparel and accessory brand Simba Maharani.
On the list of the five housewives is actress Minne Kariuki. Kariuki is wed to former Jaguar manager and entrepreneur Charles Muigai, with whom she shares two daughters. Kariuki, the newest of the five housewives, is outspoken, audacious, and unrepentant about who she is.
Lisa Christoffersen, an interior designer, author, business owner, rally driver, and curator of luxury safaris, comes last on the list. Christoffersen is the creator of Lioness Rally, the first women-only rally team in Kenya, and Lifestyle Nairobi, an artisanal venue with an art gallery, restaurants, a spa, organic stores, and fashion boutiques in Nairobi’s diplomatic district of Gigiri.
Denise Mwende, Showmax Content Specialist in East Africa, explained why they chose the five ladies, stating that they were genuine to themselves, hardworking, and unapologetic.
“Each of the women has a distinct personality and sense of who they are. They are strong, successful, prominent, and unapologetic women who do not feel guilty about living a luxurious lifestyle since they have worked hard to get it. They also illustrate the variety of communities that exist in Kenya, according to Mwende.
On February 23, 2023, the program is scheduled to debut on Showmax, with new episodes released every Thursday.
