The funeral preparations for former Cabinet Secretary George Magoha have been made public by his family. He will be buried in Yala, Siaya County.
The family will hold multiple processions where Magoha’s body will be brought to a variety of locales that had special associations with the late former CS, according to former Ministry of Education PS Julius Jwan, who spoke at a press conference on Friday, February 3.
The burial will take place on February 11, but the family has organized a number of funeral events in advance of that day.
On February 8, a farewell caravan will leave Lee Funeral Home and travel by some of the locations that Professor Magoa’s adult life was distinguished by.
The Kenya Medical Practitioners and Dentists Council headquarters, the Nigerian High Commission, Saint George’s Primary School, the Kenya National Examinations Council on Dennis Pritt Road, State House Girls, the University of Nairobi graduation square, and Starehe Boys Centre are just a few of these special locations.
The funeral procession will leave the Lee Funeral Home and end at the Starehe Boys Center, where the man attended high school, Jwan said.
On February 9, at 9:00 a.m., a funeral mass will be said at the Consolata Shrine in Westlands.
The former PS stated that the mass would “honor his life and what he always believed in, which was always led by his deep Catholic religion.”
On February 10, at 1:00 pm, the body of Professor Magoha will be brought to Yala’s Township Primary School, where it will be carried in a procession to St. Mary’s High School.
There will be a holy liturgy held at the deceased’s residence in Umiru village.
A funeral mass will be performed at the Consolata Shrine in Westlands on February 9 at 9:00 a.m.
In accordance with the former PS, the mass will “respect his life and what he always believed in, which was always led by his strong Catholic religion.”
The body of Professor Magoha will be delivered to Yala’s Township Primary School on February 10 at 1:00 pm, after which it will be paraded to St. Mary’s High School.
The deceased’s home in Umiru village will host a solemn service.
