Aisha Jumwa, the Public Service Cabinet Secretary, had her home stormed by three armed men hours earlier, and police familiar with the case have identified three significant problems with the search.
Adamson Bungei, the chief of Nairobi’s police department, reportedly said that detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) had obtained testimonies from Jumwa’s personnel and individuals who were on the property at the time.
The police wanted to know, among other things, how the three armed individuals got inside the facility despite there being active CCTV cameras both inside and outside the building.
Detectives also questioned how the group managed to enter the compound despite the electric fence being in place around-the-clock.
How the group slipped past the security personnel unobserved was another issue.
According to earlier reports, the armed gang entered the main residence through the rear door, which was unlocked.
Police chief Bungei reaffirmed that officers wanted to look into the gaps in order to find the trio and prosecute them.
According to reports, the robbers broke into the house, threatened the housekeeper and Jumwa’s daughters, and then took Ksh1.1 million.
Gold jewelry, computers, three mobile phones, and various accessories were among the other things taken.
According to a police report with the OB Number 03/02/2023 that was submitted to the Spring Valley Police Station, the incident allegedly took place on Wednesday, February 15, at about 1:45 pm, while the Public Affairs CS was away performing official business.
According to a police report, “the gang of three males, equipped with rudimentary weapons, entered the compound by cutting the electric perimeter wall and entered the main home through the backdoor, which was not locked.”
