It is now becoming clear that a police officer who claimed to have died after being stoned during Azimio demonstrations in Kisumu may have actually perished from another cause.

According to recent information, Officer Ben Oduor was actually struck by a speeding police car during the protests, not a stone as had previously been stated.

During the large-scale demonstrations, Oduor of the Keroka Police Station in Nyamira was on patrol.

According to an early police report, the late Oduor was injured during the Azimio protest in Lakeside City last Thursday and passed away while in the intensive care unit (ICU) after being rushed there.

According to the police report, Oduor and other cops were at the Jamia Supermarket when they were overpowered by rioters who were charging at them.

The deceased was struck with a stone while being launched with a catapult, according to regional police chief Noah Mwivanda, who also revealed to journalists that the deceased suffered injuries.

A detective report, however, is in conflict with recent information.

The deceased was reportedly run over by a police car when he missed a step to join it as they fled from the enraged protesters, according to sources familiar with the events.

After leaving him there, the officers returned to the station to get more tear gas canisters.

Everyone was following the car because it was “Alikimbia kuingia kwa gari mbele, gari ilikua imetoka. Therefore, Ben akienda kuboard mbelee, he akaangunka missed a stride. Right leg ikaingia chini ya gari, gari ikampita juu,” the unnamed witness to the incident informed NTV.

NTV was shown an autopsy report from Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital that seemed to corroborate the witness’s claims.

The report proved that the dead had not been struck by a stone or suffered any chest injuries.

According to the report, the cop suffered total hip and leg fractures as a result of the accident.

The deceased’s phone, which was in his pocket, was also damaged and shattered, according to a family source who spoke with NTV, according to their report.

Raising questions about how the alleged stone that struck him fractured his leg, hip bearing, and pocket phone.

Two people have already been arrested, according to previous statements made by the police regarding the officer’s death.

Since then, Mwivanda, the area’s security chief, has relocated.
