DCI has given Kenyans an update on the status of the murder investigation days after DNA samples were taken from Jeff Mwathi’s corpse. This requires a report, which is due shortly.
“Detectives working out the details of their investigations into the death of Jeff Mwathi, 23, who passed away on February 22, 2023, under mysterious conditions.
The DCI Director Mr. Mohamed Amin directed new investigations into the young man’s mysterious death in a case that has garnered a lot of public interest in order to determine in greater detail the circumstances leading to his demise that fateful morning.
A few days ago, DCI went to Dj Fatxo’s apartment complex to examine various aspects of the homicide investigation.
As per DCI, we are now in the final stretch.
“In an effort to solve the death riddle, the Homicide team and Crime Scene specialists based at the DCI National Forensic Laboratory have so far returned to the scene, carried out a scientific scene reconstruction exercise, and recorded new statements from witnesses.
In response, the body of the deceased has since been exhumed for a new autopsy and toxicological samples have been obtained in order to determine whether or not the deceased had consumed alcohol prior to the incident and what percentage he had, as well as any other toxic substances, before his death.
Kenyans are being assured by the detectives that the murder case will be solved.
As the Homicide department completes its investigations, the DCI stated on its Twitter account that the conclusions will influence some of the final course of action.
“In a similar manner, DNA samples from the deceased and people of interest in this case have been obtained for comparison in order to determine whether claims of sexual molestation made prior to the deceased’s passing are credible.
For a thorough inquiry, additional aspects of the investigation have been carried out, such as forensic analysis of CCTV footage retrieved from the apartment where the incident happened and cyber analysis of digital data.
We are presently awaiting the government pathologist’s report, which will help us determine some of our final steps.
As the probe into this case nears its conclusion, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations continues to ask the public and the family of the deceased for patience.
