Linda Oguttu, a veteran media personality, has criticized Kenyan politicians for evoking former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s name even after his death.
Raila died on Wednesday, October 15, and was buried on Sunday, October 19, at his Kang’o Ka Jaramogi ancestral home in Bondo. Several opposing narratives have emerged since his death. For instance, there is a group led Oburu Oginga, the acting ODM Party leader, supports broad-based arrangements, while another, led by secretary general Edwin Sifuna, claims Raila has no intention of backing William Ruto. A man named Oketch Salah is generating a sensation online after claiming to have had private discussions with Raila.
Oketch gained popularity on social media just days before Raila died. He posted movies and images of himself with Raila to demonstrate their closeness. After Raila’s death, Oketch was branded as Raila’s adopted son, a perception which has been dismissed by Winnie Odinga, who said she doesn’t know him. Oketch claimed Raila assured him he would support Ruto in the 2027 general election. He also claimed that the late politician had told him Sifuna was a mole in the ODM party. Oguttu took to X to criticize these gang of politicians who are still clinging on Raila’s name.
On Wednesday, January 28, the communication strategist criticized the practice of politicians using private conversations they claim to have had with the former prime minister prior to his death. She added that Raila had left and recommended the bandwagon to stand on its own. “Watu sasa waache ‘baba called, told me’. Raila no longer exists. He has directed this country’s political trajectory for many years and has a claim to the democracy and rights we enjoy. His name will be inscribed in the history of our country.Watu sasa wapambane kiviyao. Waache kushikilia koti ya baba,” she wrote.

Fans responded in the comments area, agreeing with her. Andy says, “Exactly. Hope team Wamunyoro followers in ODM, or so-called rebels, are reading this. “Oburu all the way.” Pat: “Perhaps you could project that more loudly; they don’t listen, and they don’t want to accept reality.
