Sam West, a motivational speaker, has recently declared that maintaining contact with an ex-spouse shouldn’t be punished.
Have you ever had an ex with whom you just can’t stop talking? Everybody has that one ex, as well as an ex we wish wouldn’t be a part of our lives.
“Some couples split so they can focus on improving themselves individually before getting back together. Some people improve themselves before continuing.
It takes maturity to continue communicating with an ex. It also depends on whether you have property and children together.”
Sam cautioned, however, that if a relationship is unhealthy, one should leave right away and never look back.
“If the relationships were unhealthy, I would encourage you to avoid each other. Your existence is more significant than your connection. You should all go your separate ways, block that person, and turn on your silence.”
Sam suggests that couples accept mature separations as part of life.
Plan ahead and practice your prepared remarks.
When conversing by email or text, avoid expressing emotion and keep your messages brief.
To control when you read any communications that come in, you may create a separate email or phone account for your ex.
