African content creators will assemble this Saturday in Nairobi for the TikTok Top Creators Prizes 2022 inaugural event, where eight awards will be given out.
At the five-star Movenpick Hotel and Residence, 90 Sub-Saharan African contenders for the awards will congregate to vie for the eight prizes.
On January 14, 2023, eight prizes will be presented at an offline event in Kenya. In a statement, TikTok said.
Three geographic groups—Southern Africa, West Africa, and East Africa—each with 30 nominees—made up the 90 total nominees.
Voting by the general public began on December 16, 2022, and continued for one week until December 23, 2022.
Based on the three regions, different prize categories have been created. For each of the three regions of Southern Africa, West Africa, and East Africa, a champion and runner-up will be named.
The remaining two awards, making a total of eight, will be a winner and runner-up for the overall Top Creator Award for Sub-Saharan Africa.
Among the 21 content producers who will represent Kenya are well-known figures like Jackie Vike alias Awinja, Dennis Ombachi, The Roaming Chef, Milly Wa Jesus, actor Wabosha Maxine, and beauty fashionista Chasoun.
