On Tuesday, April 4, the Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) made it clear that the September intake for students funded by the government would take place.
The placement process, according to KUCCPS, would enable pupils who took the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) exam in 2022 to enroll in universities.
Following a number of complaints and allegations regarding moving the date from September to May, KUCCPS responded. The government organization, however, denied rumors that the date had been altered.
Government-sponsored students will enroll in September rather than May, according to KUCCPS.
Along with denying rumors that students would start classes in May, KUCCPS also notified 2022 KCSE students that the placement application process had not yet begun.
After the application, students would also be permitted to change their course selections, according to KUCCPS.
The portal will be opened for course revision before transfer applications are submitted, according to KUCCPS, who stated that the application procedure for candidates for the class of 2022 has not yet begun.
The government agency stated, “The application guidelines will be made available during the transfer window.”
In order to prevent confusion, KUCCPS stated that information would be distributed to pupils via official KUCCPS channels and public service announcements in the media.
The KCSE results papers and all other necessary information must be submitted by applicants to KUCCPS.
According to the 2022 KCSE results made public by Education Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu, 173,345 candidates received the required C+ or higher for university admission.
In order to make sure that all educational institutions are ready to accept new students, Machogu suggested that the placement agency work with higher education regulatory organizations like the Commission for University Education (CUE) and the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
Those who didn’t make the cut, according to Machogu, would still have chances in other tertiary institutions.
