Four days before the Olympics begin, on Monday, the Malkia Strikers, the national women’s volleyball team, depart Miramas for Paris in an attempt to have an impact on the summer competition.
After winning two friendly matches in Miramas, coach Japheth Munala is optimistic that the team is prepared to contend for the title. The team has been working hard in Miramas.

The Kenyan team won their first friendly against Istres 3-0 (25-13, 25-16, 25-12) and then defeated local team Salon de Provence in straight sets (25-14, 25-14, 25-14).
“We’ve already covered everything on our agenda, that much I can say. The sole difficulty we encountered was choosing our starting lineup, which we have already determined – who will start and who will enter as a substitute, Munala stated.
Former Nyakach Girls High School student Pamela Adhiambo, an attacker for the Kenya Pipeline volleyball team, claims that the two friendlies have improved their team’s cohesiveness.

“We had issues with reception in our last friendly, but we made significant progress in that area in our second game. Therefore, we must strive to make it better so that we may become more precise, Pamela stated.

Kenya’s campaign will begin on July 29 against third-ranked Brazil, go on to July 31 against seventh-ranked Poland, and conclude on August 3 against ninth-ranked Japan.

The Strikers are determined to make amends for their dismal performance in the past, when they failed to win a single set in the competition.
